The Taj Mahal Restaurant won the “Channel Islands”, and “South West,” regional heats and was “National Finalist” In the Prestigious “National Curry Chef “competition in 2002. In 2007 the Taj Mahal Restaurant was voted by the Customers as the best Indian Restaurant in the Channel Islands and was listed in the top 100 Indian restaurants out of thousands in Great Britain in the British Curry Awards which is the benchmark for excellence in the Industry.

India, Bangladesh, Pakistan are Large Countries, over a million square miles of varied landscapes divided in to many territories. Geography and local produce have played an important part in forming their own culinary traditions. Religious groups have modified these regional cuisines even further to suit their own requirements. It is a myth that all Indian food is hot and peppery. The common method in all-Indian cooking is the use of spices, sometimes just two spices to cook a simple vegetable dish or up to ten to cook a more elaborate meat dish. The use of spices does not make the dish hot, the heat in Indian food comes from chillies, and not all dishes are cooked with chillies, in fact they vary from place to place, from the strong curries in the south, to the more delicate dishes of the north.
